Beijing South Railway Station

By August 01 2008, Beijing South Railway Station, covering a total space of 320,000.00 sqm (the size of 45 soccer pitches), will be welcoming its first group of passengers. The semi-circular modern station will be the terminus serving high-speed trains which runs 300 km/hr (180 miles per hour ) on the inter-city line between Beijing and Tianjin, and will be multi-levelled with stations of metro, lightrail, public bus, taxi, and with hotels, shops, restaurants and various railway facilities. For every 3 minutes there will be one train departing the station leaving the bustling views of the old south station (109-year-old) only in the memories.

Beijing South Railway Station will be the first station in China fully equipped with ATV system ( Automatic Ticket Selling ) with 36 ATV machines spread throughout in addition to more than 100 ticket office windows. The vast transparent roofs are inlaid with 4186 dark grey solar modules ( space of 6700 sqm ), which, on one hand, retains the attractive style of the architecture, and on the other hand, represents a breakthrough in the history of solar module constructions.
