JINGSHA CITY lies to the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The convenient land-and-water transportation made the city a place contested by all strategists since ancient time. In the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period(770BC-221BC), it was an Islet Palace for the kings of the Chu State, and in the Three Kingdoms Period(220AD- 280AD)Liu Bei occupied this place. Jing Zhou with long history is very rich in historical relics such as the well preserved ancient city wall,an unearthed some 2000 years-old-male body, the bronze articles and etc. The well-known Jingzhou museum is located here. In 1990s jingzhou and Shashi city became into one named Jingsha city.
