 There
is a group of tombs on the top of Mount Muri in Qungjie County, the former
capital of the Tobu Kingdom. These are the tombs of the kings and queens
of the Tobu Kingdom. The tombs are protected by the mountains in back
and guarded by stone lions erected on the mountain slope. There are steles
among the tombs to honor the dead, suggesting that by that time the Tibetans
had developed a sophisticated system for burying their dead. One stele
in particular is carved with floating clouds and the four corners of the
stele are turned up toward the sky.
