The plaza around the Jokhang Temple is a Tibetan enclave--a place set apart from the migrating Chinese. Shaped roughly like an octagon, the Barkhor is Lhasa's inner pilgrim circuit around the Jokhang Temple. The circuit is also a circle of stalls where vendors sells their goods; it is a typical Tibetan marketplace.
