Sights & Attractions --- Xilet Temple

Xilet is a Mongolian word, while the Chinese name for the temple is "Prolonging Life Temple".

In 1853 AD, the leader of the Tumorte tribe, Alatan died and his son, Sangadulang succeeded him in the post. Following the practice of his father, he invited the third generation Dalai of Tibet to spread Lamaism throughout Inner Mongolia and built the temple of Xilet Temple for him in 1585. After being expanded continually in later dynasties, the temple has become the biggest Lamasery in charge of the Yellow Sect (the monks of this sect wear yellow hats) in the region.

Xilet Temple now is the most magnificent building with traditional architectural style in the city.
