Sights & Attractions --- The Big Temple

The Big Temple was built under the charge of Alatan and his wife "sanniangzi" (the third wife) in 1579.

Because there is a silver cast statue of Sakyamuni in the temple, it is also called "Silver Buddha Temple". The "Kaiguang" (opening the light) ceremony in 1586, chaired by the third Dalai, made the temple so famous that it could match the fame of Hohhot.

The Big Temple is now the major nationally-protected historical relic located on the front street of Jade Spring District.
